SURREY, B.C. — Unity Football Club welcomes the rebrand of League1 BC as the BC Premier League (BCPL), announced today alongside the unveiling of Premier Soccer Leagues Canada (PSLC) — the new name and identity for Canada’s national pro-am system, formerly known as League1 Canada.

Introduced as part of a coordinated evolution led by Canadian Soccer Business, the Premier Soccer Leagues Canada identity aligns Canada’s provincial and regional leagues within a shared domestic pathway while preserving the distinct character and community roots of each competition.

Premier Soccer Leagues Canada brings together the Canadian Premier League and Canada’s League1 competitions, which will now operate as provincial Premier Leagues:

  • BC Premier League (BCPL)

  • Alberta Premier League (APL)

  • Prairies Premier League (PPL)

  • Ontario Premier League (OPL)

Within the Premier Soccer Leagues Canada system, the Canadian Premier League remains Canada’s top-tier, fully professional competition, with the provincial Premier Leagues serving as the highest level of semi-professional soccer and a critical step within the domestic pathway.

Together, these competitions form an increasingly aligned structure designed to elevate Canadian talent, connect deeply rooted community clubs to higher levels of opportunity, and strengthen the development environment across both the men’s and women’s games.

A Shared Story of Ambition, Progression, and Community

The transition to the BC Premier League builds on the strong foundation established under League1 BC, while reinforcing the league’s role within Canada’s broader domestic pathway.

Provincial Premier Leagues are positioned as the heartbeat of Canada’s domestic pro-am system — rooted in local communities, driven by ambition, and aligned with the professional game. This alignment enhances clarity for players, coaches, supporters, and partners, while ensuring that regional identity and local character remain central to the competition.

BC Premier League: A Core Pillar of the Domestic Pathway

As a founding club of League1 BC in 2022Unity FC enters the BC Premier League era as a founding member of the rebranded competition.

The BC Premier League now operates as a core pillar of Canada’s domestic pro-am pathway, aligned nationally through Premier Soccer Leagues Canada while retaining its distinct British Columbia identity.

League Perspective

“Premier Soccer Leagues Canada exists to give players meaningful opportunities where it matters most: in their communities,” said Dino Rossi, Vice President, Premier Soccer Leagues Canada.

“PSLC has become a trusted environment for development, competition, and progression across both the men’s and women’s games. This new identity reflects the role it already plays and sets the foundation for how the system continues to grow.”

Unity FC and the BC Premier League Era

For Unity FC, the rebrand aligns directly with the club’s long-term vision: developing ambitious players, delivering a fans-first matchday experience, and contributing meaningfully to the growth of the game in Surrey and across British Columbia.

As Premier Soccer Leagues Canada enters this next chapter, Unity FC remains committed to:

  • developing Canadian talent

  • strengthening community connection

  • and competing at the highest semi-professional level within Canada’s domestic pathway
