Dear Unity Supporters,
We wanted to share some important updates about the continued growth of our Women’s Program at Unity Football Club. Our work towards the 2026 League1 BC season began the moment the final whistle sounded on July 26, and we’re determined to keep raising the bar.
Today we are confirming that Paul Ballard will step in as Head Coach of Unity FC’s League1 Women’s Team. Alongside Technical Director, Troye Flannery, Paul will also oversee the entire Women’s Program, ensuring a united vision as we chase our club’s first League1 BC title.
Our pathway continues to expand:
- The Unity2 Women’s spring program will grow stronger, preparing the next wave of talent.
- The Surrey United Premier Women — one of the most successful and winningest teams in Canadian women’s soccer history — is now entering a new chapter alongside Unity FC as the Surrey United x Unity FC Premier Women. This partnership combines Surrey United’s proud tradition of excellence with Unity FC’s ambition and vision for the future. The team will compete in the Metro Women’s Soccer League (MWSL) under Paul Ballard’s leadership and will feature many of Unity FC’s core players from the 2025 League1 season.
- The Surrey United x Unity FC Selects A Team will also return, with the inclusion of Surrey United’s 2008 Girls program to ensure ambitious youth players continue to have opportunities, in light of BC Soccer’s decision not to operate U18 BCSPL programming in 2025/26.
Together, these steps strengthen our ambitious player pathway and reflect the ambition of both our ownership group and our partners.
As Surrey’s League1 BC club, our commitment extends beyond the women’s pathway. We are equally focused on growing and promoting the men’s pathway in a city that is poised to become the largest in British Columbia by 2030. Just as Surrey continues to expand and transform, Unity FC is committed to growing with it — strengthening the Unity FC family and creating more player opportunities to develop and compete at the highest level.
